Lore

The Scintillant Waste is alive, a vast desert that thinks thoughts only a vastness can hold. When it needs to speak to smaller minds, it splits off a fragment and fills a carapace of magic armor crafted by the Djinn of Qaldin. That fragment calls itself Crixalis, 'Soul of the Sand,' but the world knows it as Sand King. It takes the form of a giant arachnid, inspired by the tiny scuttling creatures that thrive in the dunes, and that form fits its ferocious nature. Guardian, warrior, ambassador, Sand King is all of these, never separate from the endless sea of sand that gave it being.
