A hero swap is a team decision made during the permitted pre-match period. It does not transfer an account, role or cosmetic inventory. Both players must accept the exchange before the game locks the lineups.

After confirmation, each player should control the new hero. Check the portrait, abilities and selected loadout before leaving the fountain.

Use the current method

Finish the draft and enter the strategy phase. Select the teammate who controls the hero you want and choose the available swap option.

The other player must accept the request. Confirm the new hero, lane and starting items before the preparation period ends.

Use team chat to explain the reason briefly. A clear role correction is easier to handle than several unanswered swap requests.

Check that the change worked

Review the lanes because the original player positions may no longer fit the exchanged heroes.

If the request disappears, the mode or current phase may no longer allow the action. Continue with the selected lineup rather than restarting the client.

Avoid common problems

Some modes limit swaps, and later match phases do not allow them. The client decides whether the button is available.

A swap does not excuse role abuse. Players should still follow the assigned team role and matchmaking rules.

Do not confuse a hero swap with unit sharing. Shared unit control is a separate option with different permissions.

Final check before a normal match

Repeat the method once in a fresh private lobby. Confirm the visible result, then return every temporary setting to its normal value. This short check prevents a practice command or experimental control from affecting the next ordinary game.

Game menus and internal commands can change after an update. When the current client does not show an option described here, use the visible replacement instead of forcing an old file or command. The saved post remains a draft so an editor can confirm the current interface before publication.
