Xtreme Gaming have qualified for the PGL Wallachia Season 9 playoffs after defeating LGD Gaming 2-0 in the third round. The result gave Xtreme a third consecutive victory at the event and confirmed its place in the knockout stage. LGD were the direct opponent in the decisive series, but the competitive consequence belongs to Xtreme: three wins were enough to move the team beyond the group stage.
The win also put Xtreme Gaming alongside Team Yandex among the first teams to secure playoff places. Xtreme reached that position through three different series: a sweep of Pibbles Corp, a comeback win over Conventus Stellarum and the clean result against LGD. That route makes the LGD series more than an isolated victory. It completed an unbeaten opening run and removed the need for Xtreme to play another qualification series in the group phase.
PGL Wallachia Season 9 is being held in Bucharest, Romania, from September 19 to 27. Sixteen teams are competing for a $1 million prize pool. The group stage uses a modified Swiss system in which three series wins secure advancement and three losses mean elimination. Xtreme reached the required winning mark at its first opportunity against another previously unbeaten team.

A clean result with a playoff consequence
Xtreme Gaming’s 2-0 against LGD Gaming ended without LGD taking a map. On the first map, Ame broke a ten-game losing streak on Phantom Lancer and finished 11/1/9. The second map remained close until around the 20-minute mark, after which Xtreme took control and completed the sweep. Those details show two different paths to the same result: a notable carry performance in the opener and a mid-game momentum shift in the closer.
For LGD, the defeat ended its own unbeaten start but did not eliminate the team. For Xtreme, the consequence was immediate qualification. The distinction is the important part of the series: one side moved directly into the playoff field, while the other remained in the group-stage qualification race.
Xtreme began the event by defeating Pibbles Corp 2-0. The next round required a recovery after Conventus Stellarum took the opening map, but Xtreme won the next two to claim the series 2-1. The meeting with LGD then produced a second sweep. Taken together, the sequence shows that the playoff berth was built through both clean wins and a successful comeback rather than through one repeated match pattern.
The table below keeps that route separate from unrelated results elsewhere in the Swiss stage. It identifies the opponent and outcome in each of Xtreme’s first three series, while the short list records the practical effects of the LGD win.
The three-series route to qualification
The sequence gives useful context to the final qualification score. Xtreme had already shown it could close a clean series and recover after losing an opening map. Against LGD, it returned to a sweep and secured advancement without needing a later group-stage attempt. That progression is the clearest measure of the team’s opening form at Wallachia.
The contrast between the last two series is particularly useful. Conventus Stellarum forced Xtreme to respond after dropping the opener, whereas LGD never established the same series advantage. Xtreme therefore reached the playoff line after demonstrating both recovery and front-running control. The berth was not based on a tiebreak or another team’s result; it followed directly from Xtreme’s own three-match run.
- Immediate effect for Xtreme: a confirmed place in the playoff bracket.
- Immediate effect for LGD: the team remained in the Swiss group stage after its first series loss.

| Xtreme Gaming opponent | Series result |
|---|---|
| Pibbles Corp | Xtreme Gaming won 2-0 |
| Conventus Stellarum | Xtreme Gaming won 2-1 |
| LGD Gaming | Xtreme Gaming won 2-0 |
The result leaves the teams with different immediate tasks. Xtreme can turn its attention to the knockout stage, while LGD must convert a 2-1 position into its own qualification later in the group phase.
